For the 15 September 2016 meeting we are delighted to have District Attorney General for Shelby County Tennessee … AMY P. WEIRICH … as our guest speaker.  Please join us and General Weirich for a very informative breakfast meeting.  

Amy Weirich became Shelby County District Attorney in January of 2011. She was appointed by Gov. Bill Haslam.  She was elected on 03 August 2012 and re-elected to a full eight-year term on 07 August 2014 and is the first woman to serve as District Attorney General in Shelby County. 

Gen. Weirich joined the DA’s Office in 1991 as a courtroom prosecutor, handling many high-profile criminal cases and serving in many leadership roles. She was chief prosecutor of the Gang and Narcotics Prosecution Unit and Division Leader for the Special Prosecution Unit in Criminal Court.  She not only has pushed for harsher punishment for violent offenders, but also has embraced innovative ways to prevent crime.  

Gen. Weirich earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee at Martin, and a law degree from the Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law at the University of Memphis.

Gen. Weirich and her husband, Chuck, have four children and are members of St. Louis Catholic Church.

August 2016: Robert Meyers

Mr. Robert D. Meyers is a Tennessee Commission certified civil trial specialist. He was selected for inclusion in the 2007 Edition of Best Lawyers in America and Mid-South Super Lawyers.

Mr. Meyers received a B.S. degree from the University of Tennessee at Martin, a B.S.N. degree from the University of Tennessee at Memphis, and a J.D. degree from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.

Mr. Meyers has extensive experience representing public employers’ claims. He is admitted to practice before state courts and the United States Supreme Court. He is a member of the Memphis, Tennessee and American Bar Associations. He is a member of the Defense Research Institute’s Employment Committee, Civil Rights, and Governmental Tort Liability Committee.

June 2016: Representatives Steve McManus and Mark White

The Cordova Breakfast Club meets Thursday, June 16, 7:30-9am at Danver’s Restaurant, 1380 No. Germantown Parkway in Cordova.

Representative Steve McManusSteve McManus represents the 96th Tennessee House District. He is a member of the Commerce, Insurance and Economic Development Task Force of the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC). He is an investment adviser, and a regional business commentator on Fox News. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from the College of the Holy Cross, Worcester, MA.

Representative Mark WhiteMark White represents the 93rd Tennessee House District. He is Chairman of the House Education Subcommittee, Fiscal Review Committee, Co-Chairs the Second Look Commission serves on other committees and commissions. Mark was born in Union City, Tennessee, the son of a Church of Christ Minister. He graduated from the University of Memphis with a degree in education teaching science, becoming a principal. He and his wife, Kathy, founded “Global Children’s Educational Foundation.” He became a successful business owner. Mark and Kathy have been married 34 years. They have one daughter and two grandsons.

May 2016: Jim Strickland

The Cordova Breakfast Club meets Thursday, May 19, 7:30-9am at Danver’s Restaurant, 1380 No. Germantown Parkway in Cordova.

Jim-StricklandMemphis Mayor Jim Strickland began law practice in 1989 focusing in many areas. He practices in State and Federal Court.

In 2007, Strickland was elected to the Memphis City Council. Before his partnership with David Kustoff, in 1998, he was with Glankler Brown, PLLC. From 1989-1990, he was clerk for Tennessee Supreme Court Justice William H.D. Fones. From 1989-1996, Strickland was an adjunct law professor at the University of Memphis. Jim and his spouse, Melyne, have two children.

Talking Points:

  • Running an efficient and responsible city government that will multiply all the great things already going on throughout Memphis
